Erik ten Hag has allegedly named Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as one of his top summer transfer targets.
It was reported earlier this week that the Dutchman would leave Ajax at the conclusion of the season to replace Ralf Rangnick in the Old Trafford dugout.
Rangnick, who is expected to take on an advising position, has hinted that up to ten first-team signings might occur prior to the start of the 2022-23 season.
According to Sport, Ten Hag, though, wants United to make a strong move for Frenkie de Jong in order to bolster his midfield.
While neither Barcelona nor Frenkie de Jong are now interested in ending their cooperation at Camp Nou, Ten Hag is eager to entice his comrade with the prospect of being at the center of his future ambitions.
While the 24-year-old is presently a fixture in Xavi’s starting lineup, it has been widely speculated that Franck Kessie will join on a free transfer from AC Milan.
Nonetheless, De Jong’s contract has more than four years remaining, posing a possible stumbling block for United when it comes to bargaining.
