Laliga giants FC Barcelona have confirmed that youngster Ansu Fati has signed a new deal until 2027.
Talks have been ongoing for weeks between the player’s representative and the club and an agreement was made this week with the new deal having a €1bn release clause; a move aimed at fending away any suitors for the player.
The move is some good news for Barca who have struggled this season both domestically and in the Champions League; the Spanish giants narrowly beat Dynamo Kyiv in their Wednesday night Champions League in a must-win game.
Despite his age, Ansu Fati who returned recently to the team’s fold after a long lay off is highly revered at the club and was handed the iconic number 10 jersey following the departure of captain Lionel Messi to PSG in the summer.
The 18-year-old has a market value of €60m according to Transfermarkt and has contributed directly to three goals in the three games he’s played in La Liga so far this season.
