Willy Caballero, 40, has been a free agent since leaving Chelsea in the summer, and he could make his Southampton debut as soon as this weekend, with previously third-choice Harry Lewis the only other goalkeeper available as the Saints travel to face Arsenal on Saturday.
Caballero has been training and maintaining his fitness with League One side Wimbledon and he’s expected to fit in well with Ralph Hasenhüttl’s playing style.
Between 2017 and 2021, Big Willy made 38 appearances for Chelsea, keeping 14 clean sheets and establishing a reputation for himself in penalty shootouts (even better than Kepa!) while winning the Champions League, Europa League, and FA Cup trophies. Prior to that, he spent time at Manchester City, Malaga, and Elche in Spain.
All the best, Willy Caballero!
