Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen has been named as Manchester United’s Player of the Month for September after a strong start to life at Old Trafford.

The Dane signed for the Reds from Brentford in the summer transfer window and has made eight appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side so far this term. Eriksen, who has recorded two assists for the Reds, has formed a good relationship with Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay in recent weeks and has helped United win their last four Premier League matches.

The 30-year-old has been deployed in a deeper midfield role in the past month, with his ability to dictate play allowing Ten Hag’s men to keep hold of the ball.

Christian Eriksen delivered an assured performance in United’s narrow victory over Leicester City on the opening day of September, before showing his class in the win over current league-leaders Arsenal three days later.

His strong showings have seen him win the Player of the Month for September as he recorded 62 per cent of the votes – seeing off competition from fellow nominees Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to secure the accolade in only his second month of competitive action at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old grabbed an assist in the triumph over the Gunners, before delivering a man-of-the-match performance against FC Sheriff in the Europa League, where he also recorded an assist for Sancho’s opener.

Christian Eriksen follows fellow summer recruit Lisandro Martinez in winning the award shortly after joining the club, with the Argentine being named Player of the Month for August.
