USMNT

Gregg Berhalter’s USMNT side head to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup and will face Iran, Wales and England in Group B of the competition.

After failing to qualify for the 2018 Russia World Cup, there was added pressure on US coach Gregg Berhalter to ensure that the ‘Stars & Stripes’ advanced to the Qatar tournament given that the United States will co-host the 2026 edition along with Canada and Mexico.

After a bright start, the USMNT stuttered to a third placed finish and sealed an automatic ticket to the Gulf beating Costa Rica by virtue of goal difference with ‘Los Ticos’ ultimately qualifying after an intercontinental play off against New Zealand.

Looking to Qatar

Gregg Berhalter’s side have been placed in a tricky group as they face England, Iran and Wales and the national team coach has confirmed that his 26-man-squad will be confirmed on Wednesday, November 9 at 5:00 pm (ET) in New York City.

Berhalter has been working with a series of MLS based players for the past two weeks in Texas as part of a fitness training camp. These players will be augmented by the European based stars who will be officially released by their clubs on 14 November with a possibility that a handful join Berhalter in the preceding days.
