Man United vs Liverpool: Mohamed Salah can match 100-year-old record on Sunday clash

Egyptian forward Mohammed Salah is set to match the club’s 100-year record if he can score against Manchester United on Sunday.

Salah has been on some form of late as he seeks to fight Harry Kane in the golden boot race and if he manages to get a goal at Old Trafford, he will be the first Liverpool player to score in two away games at United in the same season since Harry Chambers in 1920/21. Yes, that's 100 years ago.

Chambers, a Liverpool forward from 1915 to 1928, scored 135 goals in 310 appearances during his 13-year-long stay at the club.

Liverpool's record at United has been pathetic as they have not won a match there in the past seven years and after a run of netting one goal in his six games prior, Salah rediscovered his goal-scoring touch the last time the two teams met in the FA Cup Fourth Round in January.

The Egyptian forward fired Liverpool ahead on 18 minutes before drawing level on the hour-mark. However, his efforts went unrewarded as the Reds found no reply after Bruno Fernandes' late free-kick to make it 3-2.

The Egyptian has scored six goals in his last seven appearances for club and country with 20 strikes so far this term.
