England announce their Three Lions squad for October, LinGOD & Kane in
Fikayo Tomori, Ollie Watkins and Phil Foden have returned to the England squad for October’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.
Tomori made his one and only senior England appearance so far in November 2019 but has impressed since his move from Chelsea to AC Milan, where he has played eight times this season.
Aston Villa forward Watkins and Manchester City’s Foden have been recalled following injury, while Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is also included.
For the September triple-header, England manager Gareth Southgate stuck with the majority of the squad that took his side to the final of Euro 2020 earlier in the summer, but there have had to be changes this time around with injured duo Harry Maguire and Trent Alexander-Arnold being forced to miss out.
Manchester United captain Maguire is facing a “few weeks” out with a calf problem. Liverpool right-back Alexander-Arnold suffered a groin injury in training earlier this week.
Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood has been left out again despite scoring in his side’s opening three Premier League fixtures of the season.
The forward has one senior cap but was left out of September’s squad, with Southgate saying the 19-year-old was “in his thoughts”.
There is also no place for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in the Three Lions squad for October.
