Drogba best moments
Drogba had a habit of scoring important goals for Chelsea at crucial moments on the biggest stages, none more so than slotting the decisive penalty in 2012’s Champions League final to give the Blues their first-ever European Cup triumph. That win came against Bayern Munich in their back yard, and it’s a moment that will never be forgotten as it secured his place in Chelsea folklore. Almost fittingly, it was Drogba’s towering header in the 88th minute which took the contest to extra time and he was on hand again when his teammates needed him most at the death. Football teams need leaders and Didier Drogba was born to serve that role.
Carlo Ancelotti said it well:
“There are a lot of players with fantastic technique, but they are not leaders. They have not made the most of their careers, because they do not have a strong character, personality or courage. You need all of those as much as technique. Didier has it all. When you find a player who has talent and is unselfish—hai vinto! You’ve won.”
Happy Birthday to the iconic Ivorian!
