Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to prove why Manchester United did everything to have him back at Old Trafford after scoring the winner in their Champions League comeback on Wednesday night.

United were two goals down at halftime but Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire ensured matters were leveled before Cristiano Ronaldo popped up with a header to hand the home side all the points.

The 36-year-old has now scored in all three of United’s Champions League ties this season, also having found the net against Villareal and Young Boys.

Apart from scoring in all his Champions League games since returning to United, it was the second time the Portuguese superstar had scored in three consecutive Champions League games for United, having also done so in 2007 in route to winning the trophy.

The goal also means that he has scored the most winning goals in the Champions League in 2021. The goal also took him level with Andy Cole in United’s Champions League goalscoring table, and one behind manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
